Abstract

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) can progress to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), which is becoming the fastest growing cause of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Although large progress has been made in studying MASLD pathogenesis, there are still significant unmet challenges and only one drug has been approved for MASLD. Whether nucleic acid-based therapies can be used for the treatment of MASLD remains largely unknown. Therefore, understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying MASLD may lead to new treatments.
